In his first 28 innings this season CC Sabathia only surrendered 1 homerun. Monday night in Tampa the Rays managed to take Sabathia deep, 3 times in the first 3 innings. Two of which, came off the bat of Ryan Roberts.

Sabathia once against battled his 1st innings control and an unusually low velocity when the Rays were able to tally 4 first innings runs off the big Yankee left hander.

Tampa sent 7 hitters to the plate in the 20-pitch 1st. Ryan Roberts and Yunel Escobar each hit homers and Roberts added another solo shot later in the 3rd.

Sabathia settled down to allow only one run in the next 6 innings, finishing his night with a line of: 7 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 2 BB, 8 K. 104 pitches, 68 strikes.

Something that Yankees fans should be concerned about, Sabathia didn't look like his normal self. Watching him between innings, you could see him continuously clutching his left hand as if something was wrong. So well keep an eye on that.

His velocity again wasn't what he and the Yankees are hoping for. Mostly in the high 80's, CC was able to touch as high as 91 at several points throughout the night.

The Yankees weren't able to support Sabathia with any runs of their own while Matt Moore was absolutely dominant. Tossing 8 innings of one run ball, with 9 K, 2 H, and 3 BB. Moore's outstanding effort improved him to 4-0 on the year.

New York's only run came in the 4th, via the long ball by Robinson Cano. A no doubt shot for his team leading 6th homerun of the year.
