Derek Jeter flew to Charlotte on Thursday for unscheduled appoint to see the same doctor that performed his ankle surgery back in October.
CT scans showed that Jeter had a small crack in that very left ankle, and according to Brian Cashman Jeter won't be back until at least after the all-star break.
"This is obviously a setback." Cashman said. "We're looking at sometime after the all-star break."
Cashman also said that its unknown whether or not Jeter's push to return April 1st caused this small crack.
Doctors told Cashman that 95% of people come back from this just fine. Jeter will not require any new surgery. He just needs more rest.
This is obviously coming as a big disappointment to the Yankees as they were originally hoping he could return by Opening Day, then it turned into an early May return.
Now seeing as he won't be back until sometime after the all-break, Eduardo Nunez and Jayson Nix will get even more time to man the position we've seen number 2 at, for so long.
"I'm happy with Nixy and I'm happy with Nuney, but I would be happier with Derek." Said of his main two shortstops.
