Coming off an off-day in which the Yankees added another player to the all-star disabled list in Joba Chamberlin, the Oakland Athletics will come to the Bronx in what should prove to be a more challenging series than the Astros.

Since the all-star break last season, the A's have been the highest scoring team in the majors and the Yankees proving pitching staff will be given the task of shutting them down.

Oakland leads the league this season in runs scored (162) and the Yankees pitching staff currently holds a 4.00 ERA. New York doesn't score as many runs as the A's do, but Oakland hasn't been throwing the ball like we're use to seeing.

The Yankees are 6-1 on their current homestand and are looking to finish strong before heading out west to face the Rockies. After sweeping the Blue Jays over the weekend, the Yankees lost big to the Astros on Monday then rebounded to win the next 2 games of the series.

The Athletics and Angels played to 19 innings with the A's coming out 10-8 in Mondays marathon match. Oakland came away winners on Tuesday, then lost the series finale to the Angels on Wednesday.

Both teams currently stand in 2nd place in their respected divisions and will each be looking for win to keep up with their division leaders.

Probable starters:

Fri: Sabathia vs Griffin
Sat: Hughes vs Colon
Sun: Pettitte vs Straily
