Grandy could return Tuesday.

Though Granderson only began his rehab stint with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on Thursady, it hasn't been ruled out that the power hitting lefty join the Yankees in the Bronx when the team returns Tuesday to begin a six game homestand against the Mariners.

"I don’t know. He’s getting at-bats under his belt." Said Yankees manager Joe Girardi. "I know he’s feeling better but I don’t want to put a date on it. I know everyone wants a date but the date is for me when he says he’s ready."

We don't exactly know how many at-bats Grandy had while playing in extended spring games, but he did pick up four hits in the first ten at-bats with the RailRiders and even hit a game-tying two-run home run on Friday night.

"He's a big bat for us," Girardi said. "He's a guy that has the opportunity to hit home runs and drive in runs as well. It would mean a lot."

Nunez could head to the DL.

Missing his 5th straight game due to soreness in his ribcage, it's looking more likely after each passing day that Eduardo Nunez could wind up in the DL. Nunez took some swings yesterday and was hoping he could play Saturday but said he felt "a little something" today and was told not to do anything today.

"I thought he’d be ready, but he’s not ready, so we’ll have to make an evaluation," Joe Girardi said before tonight's game against the Royals. "We’re going into a doubleheader on Monday and we’re going to need some extra infielders. We’re going to beed another player if he can’t go, so we’ll see.

I was under the impression that he felt better yesterday, and when they said better, I thought that meant he didn’t feel it," Girardi said. "But he still feels it a little bit. So I was under the wrong impression."

Girardi and GM Brian Cashman discussed the possibility Saturday morning of placing Nunez on the DL and said that they would readdress the issue after Saturday night's game.
