Prior to Wednesday's game against the Detroit Tigers, the Yankees made a trio of roster cuts that included a pair of players that have been dealing with injuries throughout spring training.
LHP Nik Turley and outfielder Slade Heathcott were optioned to Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Berre, and top prospect Gary Sanchez was sent down to Double-A Trenton.
Turley has been shut down completely by the Yankees for the past could of weeks because of tightness in his pitching arm, and Heathcott has been working back from a knee surgery that he had late last season.
Sanchez was hitting .333 with one homerun in five games for the Yankees this spring.
